World Theatre reopens today

The Charters Towers World Theatre will reopen on Thursday under the management of the Charters Towers Regional Council.

Mayor Frank Beveridge said Council would now manage the Council-owned World Theatre complex.

“Previously Entertainment Services Project Management had managed the complex through an arrangement with Council,” Cr Beveridge said.

“However Council has made the decision to now manage the World Theatre as part of Council operations.

“And I thank Entertainment Services for their long service to the Charters Towers community.”

Cr Beveridge said some staff previously employed by Entertainment Services has been employed by Council at the World Theatre.

“Council is ensuring that this magnificent facility will continue to service residents and visitors to the highest standard possible,” he said.

With the Thursday reopening, some great school holiday entertainment will be screening in the movie theatres. Inside Out (PG), Minions (PG) and Jurassic World (M) will all be screening from Thursday.

Movie patrons can also watch out for coming attractions – Magic Mike XXL (MA15+), Ted 2 (MA15+) and Ant-Man (CTC).

The tradition of live entertainment will also continue at the World Theatre.

On 5 July, live comedy will be on stage with the performance of Australia Day by Jonathan Biggens. There will be more comedy on 17 July with Matt Hale, comedy hypnotist live on stage.

With a different flavour, there will be the Help Quit Smoking seminar on 16 July and the Lifestyle Weight Management seminar on 17 July.

Excluding this week only, the World Theatre movie complex will operate from Wednesday to Sunday every week.
