What’s On this weekend

Here’s all the to do’s this weekend in and around the Charters Towers region, there’s something for everyone.

expo posterIt’s already kicked off this morning but the Northern Beef Producers Expo is running tomorrow as well.

Tonight at 6pm the ‘Blue Jeans and Bush Belles’ cocktail night is on at the Arthur Titley Centre, tickets for that can be bought online.


Those with tickets can attend the recovery breakfast tomorrow morning at 7:30am at the showgrounds.

Tomorrow there will be more keynote speakers and live demonstrations from the exhibitors.


Tomorrow night is the Gold City Boxing Club Amateur Fight Night and Battle of the Minefight nights tournament.

It’s being held at the L&F Mines Transfer shed on Pyrites Rd.

There will be food, drinks and plenty of entertainment available from just $10 for kids and $20 for adults.

Gates are at 5:30pm with fights running until 10:30.


If you’re aged 15-25 and haven’t gotten your free health check yet then tomorrow morning is your last chance to do so.

The van will be at the neighbourhood centre from 8:30am for both genders to get a free, professional and anonymous check up.


come and tryTownsville City Autosports Club (TCAC) will be conducting a Come and Try Day at the Millchester Motor Sports Complex this weekend.

There will be a car display with demonstrations starting at 1pm on Saturday, then on Sunday at 9am the Come and Try Motorkhana will start.

There is no entry fee however an optional insurance coverage of $25 will be available.

All drivers over the age of 12 can participate.

UPDATE: The event has been cancelled due to the weather.


barrel race'On Sunday the first Charters Towers barrel racing event of the year will be held at the rodeo grounds.

It’s a double header with events at 10am and 1pm with results going towards qualification for the national championships.

Lastly, it’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday so get out to your local park or just in your street and help keep the country tidy.
