The Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) are the latest body to welcome the Prime Minister’s Cabinet reshuffle announcement and the appointment of Queensland MP and member for Maranoa, David Littleproud on his appointment as Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources.
QFF President Stuart Armitage says it is great to see a Queenslander, particularly a member in a very important agricultural region such as Maranoa, elevated to control the federal Agriculture and Water portfolios.
“Representing an agricultural rich region such as Maranoa that stretches from Warwick in the south, Winton in the north and Birdsville in the west, David will bring firsthand knowledge and experiences about what Queensland farmers and regional communities need.”
QFF and industry members says they are looking forward to as constructive relationship experienced with the Deputy Prime Minister and his office continuing with David Littleproud at the helm.
“On behalf of Queensland’s intensive agricultural industries, QFF acknowledges and thanks the Deputy Prime Minister for his passion, commitment and achievements while in charge of the Agriculture and Water portfolios.”
“QFF looks forward to working with Barnaby as the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, particularly to ensure we get the Queensland section of the Inland Rail right.”
QFF has also welcomed new Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Bridget McKenzie to the Cabinet, as Minister for Regional Telecommunications.
“Rapid improvement in telecommunications is needed to help Queensland agriculture realise its full potential and we look forward to working with her on this pivotal issue.”
“Queensland MP, John McVeigh will also be a very welcome addition to the Cabinet as Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government. As a former Queensland Agriculture Minister, John understands the importance of the Queensland farming sector and the communities they support.”
