Regional Queensland Businesses to Benefit

A $6 million trial launched today by the State Government aims to help large electricity customers in regional Queensland reduce their electricity bills and more efficiently use energy.

Utilities_electricityMinister for Energy Mark Bailey says up to 10 businesses would participate in the Large Customer Adjustment Trial.

“The trial will provide these large customers with free and independent energy audits, including comprehensive advice on energy management strategies and the standard electricity tariff best suited to their particular circumstances.”

“Businesses that agree to progress to the trial’s next step can save up to 50% of the costs to implement the energy audit’s recommendations.”

“More than 100 eligible businesses, across a wide range of industries, will be invited to apply based on their projected electricity bills after switching tariffs.

“Other large regional business are also welcome to apply if they believe they could benefit from participating in the trial.”

Mr Bailey says the Government is trialling innovative ways to help large electricity customers adjust to more modern electricity tariffs.

“The Large Customer Adjustment Trial is part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $10 million Regional Business Customer Support Package.”

“Apart from potentially saving participants money and improving their energy efficiency, the trial will also provide information that can be used by other large customers affected by changes in regional business tariffs.”
