The vehicle was spotted approximately 6pm last night by a local helicopter pilot and reported to police.

At first light yesterday police attended the location by helicopter, confirming that the vehicle belonged to Dallas. It had been left locked and secured but had two damaged tyres.

A preliminary air search was conducted today of the immediate area and a forensic examination conducted of the vehicle.

A coordinated land and air search is being organised using members of the State Emergency Service (SES).

Detective Inspector Anne Vogler, Crime and Support Services, Mount Isa District says the area was isolated with harsh terrain making it difficult to access by land.

“All efforts are being made to locate Dallas and to help provide answers to his family and friends. A coordinated air and land search will be conducted of the area.”

Dallas went missing after failing to arrive in Mount Isa after leaving Cairns on Saturday December 30.

Air searches have been conducted in various areas including the highway between Mount Isa and Cloncurry.

Police hold concerns for Dallas’ safety and wellbeing as there has been no contact from him since he spoke to a truck driver via radio on December 31.

Dallas is described as Caucasian, 178cms tall with a solid build, short brown hair, blue eyes and a beard. He was last seen wearing a grey ‘NYC’ t-shirt and blue board shorts.
